Technique Tuesday - Shadow Stamping

Shadow stamping is similar to Faux embossing, but there's enough of a difference to make it a technique of its own.  Anne created this fun card that's quick and easy!  You don't have to own several shades of blue ink to create this effect.  For the look shown here, I stamped the first image in full-strength Brilliant Blue ink, moved the stamp up slightly; stamped again and then repeated once more, slightly higher.  Any time you like a color, but need a slightly lighter shade, lightly stamp off the ink and then stamp your card.

Technique Tuesday - Faux Seersucker

I love Sofia's card and technique so much that I can't wait to share it with my customers at Stamp Camp in March.  I wasn't planning on adding the Pretty Petals background stamp to my stamp collection so soon, but as usual, as soon as I saw how beautiful this card turned out, I couldn't wait to order it!

Faux Embossing has to be one of my favorite techniques.  I like it when I use the ink over ink technique, but I LOVE it when I add some sparkle with Iridescent Ice embossing powder! 

Technique Tuesday - Faux Metal

Another one of my favorite techniques...faux metal.  When I pulled this project out to post it, I realized that I made a mistake on the directions.  To create the background of the card, you emboss the design in silver and then use the baby wipe technique to dye the paper.  I think you would have figured that one out, but I thought I should clarify just in case.

Technique Tuesday - Faux Stitching

Sofia designed the perfect technique card to showcase Faux Stitching because her design uses several stitching types the on one card. 
Products used:

• Stampin' Up! Designer Paper (Sorry, this one's retired)
• Heard from the Heart stamp set
• 1-1/4" square and circle punches
• Paper Piercing tool, Mat pad and template
• Chocolate Chip, Groovy Guava*, Wild Wasabi* cardstock
• Old Olive button
• White Gel pen
• Chocolate Chip marker

Tip:  To create the patchwork quilt background, lay out your 1-1/4" squares wrong side up, side-by-side to create a square. Tape the pieces together with scotch tape, then adhere to the cardstock square as one piece. 

Technique Tuesday - Secret Surprise!

Do you remember me saying that I wanted to start technique classes?  Well, thanks to my fabulous downline I have lots and lots of fantastic samples to show you.  I've decided to start "Technique Tuesdays" on my blog.  Each week I will post a new technique for you to try.  For months my Sparkles team and I have been getting together to swap ideas and projects.  We're doing a technique shoebox swap where everyone chooses a technique to feature.  Each person creates a sample and makes a technique page for us to put in a 6" x 6" photo album (see sample below). Then, when we're together we stamp a card project for each technique highlighted.  Usually, there's about 6-8 of us who participate in the swap, so there's lots of learning and stampin' going on...it's so much fun! The technique book we've created is awesome and continues to grow! I have to say, my downline is incredibly talented!  They do a terrific job designing their cards. I love having a book of instructions to refer back to when I can't remember how I did a technique. 

If you would like to join a technique club or even better, my Sparkles Stampin' Up! team, let me know.  Once I have 12 participants registered in the club, we'll schedule dates to meet.  The cost of the club is $15 a month and you will make 3 cards and 3 technique pages for your book.  At the end of the year you will receive a FREE photo album to store all your pages in.
