November Page of the Month

I think my love of Christmas and the holiday season shows in my scrapbook pages.  I always seem to choose the Christmas layouts for Page of the Month as my favorites.  This one's no exception.  I love how the texture of the Liquid Applique on the chipboard letters gives this layout so much dimension.  I also love how sponging ink on to the textured cardstock gave the pages so much depth.  It's really beautiful in person.  You could also add Dazzlin' Diamonds to the snowflakes for an extra little touch of sparkle.

 

The products used for this layout are:

• Serene Snowflakes and Itty Bitty backgrounds stamp sets
• *On Board Simon lower chipboard letters
• *Baja Breeze Textured cardstock
• Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, and Barely Banana cardstock
• Autumn Meadows Designer Series paper
• Not Quite Navy brads
• Not Quite Navy Classic and Whisper White Craft ink
• Sponges
• Liquid Applique

• Clear Rhinestone brads
• White Vellum paper
• Stampin' Dimensionals

Directions:

Sponge the Baja Breeze (or Bashful Blue) 12" x 12" cardstock pages with Not Quite Navy and Whisper White ink. Be careful not to go over the Not Quite Navy ink with your White sponge, or you'll get the blue ink in your White inkpad.  Allow to dry completely.  Stamp the snowflakes randomly on the pages in Not Quite Navy ink.  Add white Itty Bitty dots.  Stamp the Vellum with small white snowflakes.  Set all the pieces aside to dry.  Create the photo squares.  Notice that the top of the photo squares fold over the top of the photos before the brads are placed.  If you're adding photos later, you can add the brads to the flap and glue the flap over the pictures.  Paint the chipboard letters with White Craft ink.  Cover the letters with Liquid Applique and heat set.  Be careful not to heat the applique too long, or your "snow" will burn.  Finish the page as shown.  The chipboard letters are attached with Stampin' Dimensionals.

October Page of the Month

This layout was inspired by the blog header on Shelli's blog.  I just loved the way she added so many textures and layers and couldn't wait to duplicate the technique on a scrapbook layout.  I was excited to feature the retired Autumn Fest stamp set as well as the new Autumn Splendor set because my Page of the Month members received that set last year.

Nothing tricky in regards to the directions for making this layout.  Randomly stamp the leaf and acorn designs on the Vanilla Texture cardstock.  Roll the pages randomly with the Texture wheel in Close to Cooca ink and the Speckled wheel in Taken with Teal ink.  The chipboard letters are covered with Really Rust Textured cardstock and the edges are sponged in Chocolate Chip ink.  Notice that we did stamp the large Turquoise Designer Paper with leaves also.

September Page of the Month

Everyone enjoyed Sofia's Halloween card so much that we decided we needed to highlight her design and technique for future generations in our scrapbooks.  I adapted the card into a 12" x 12", two-page scrapbook layout for our September Page of the Month project. 

 

The design features the following products:

• Halloween Frights stamp set
• Frightful Fence Jumbo wheel
• Well-Worn Alphabet (retired)
• Barely Banana, Apricot Appeal, Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue, Brilliant Blue, and Basic Black Classic Ink
• Whisper White Craft Ink
• Sponges
• Black Gingham ribbon
• Barely Banana, Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, and Basic Black cardstock
• Scallop Edge punch
• 1/16" Handheld punch
• White Gel pen
• Basic Black ink cartridge

Directions:

Create a large circle template using a circle cutter or Big Shot die in the center of a large Post-it Note sheet.  Save the circle you removed.  Place the template on a piece of White cardstock where you would like your moon to be.  Starting with the lightest shade of yellow, in this case Barely Banana, sponge the circle shape on to the cardstock. Sponge Apricot Appeal ink around the bottom 2/3 of the circle.  Finish with the Pumpkin Pie ink, sponging the bottom 1/3 or so of the circle.  Remove the template and cover the moon with the circle you cut out of the Post-it Note.  Repeat the sponging technique around the moon starting with Bashful Blue ink, adding Brocade Blue, and finally Brilliant Blue until the entire White cardstock piece in covered.  Next, roll along the bottom of the cardstock with the fence design in Basic Black ink.  Once dry, highlight the fence posts with a White Gel Pen.  Stamp the bats and cat in Basic Black. Finish the layout as shown.  Notice that some of the bats are stamped-off to give the illusion that they are coming from a further distance. 

August 2009 Page of the Month - Circle Circus

Time to start playing with the new In-Colors for our scrapbook pages.  The Crushed Curry and Bermuda Bay look striking together when combined with Basic Black.

June 2009 Page of the MonthIndependence Day

I wanted to do something a little different with the Independence Day stamp set. At first, my plan was to create a Fourth of July page, but then I thought why not create a design that could be for the 4th, or maybe another occasion if someone doesn't have pictures for Independence Day?  Looking at the stamps in the set, I realized that the designs would make a fun birthday page too.  

By stampin' the stars in a variety of Bold Bright colors the page took on a whole new feeling.  We added flames over the wick of the firecrackers to make them look like candles.  To make the candles SPARKLE (and we know I LOVE sparkles), we added Dazzlin' Diamonds with a two-way glue pen.  

You could easily change this into a Fourth of July layout just by changing the colors to Red, White, Yellow, and Blue only.  Leave the flames off the firecrackers, change the Happy Birthday to You to a flag, Happy Fourth of July, or God Bless America. One of my stampers liked this idea so much that she stamped one of each!

May 2009 Page of the Month - Fifth Avenue Floral

Every once in a while I will come across a stamping technique that I like and can't wait to share with you.  However, I have never loved a technique more than the one I first saw on Patty Bennett's blog.  It's called the Floating Reinkers Watercolor Technique and was originated by Crystal French from Denver and then demo'd at the Stampin' Up! Seattle Regionals by Connie Ingram.  When I first watched the video technique on Patty's blog, I thought "Wow, that looks like fun."  But when I tried it, I was blown away!  I couldn't stop making the roses!  I've made over a hundred of them in a variety of colors, using my rose garden as a color guide. I should have taken a photograph of all the roses before I started using them.  Guess I'll just have to make more...oh boy...oh boy!!  I teased my husband that he should take them upstairs to create a "bed of roses" for me, but he didn't get it...oh well.

The first project we created using this technique was the May Page of the Month layouts.  My Stamp Campers went wild over these and made me promise to make cards at our next Stamp Camp in June.  They want to play with the technique too.  So look for my next post that shows you one of the cards we'll be stamping next weekend.

Rock-a-Bye Boy or Girl Scrapbook Album

February/March 2009 Page of the Month

I was recently reminded that I haven't posted a picture of my Page of the Month projects for a little while and since it's National Scrapbooking Month, I thought I'd share what we've been doing.  I think the Petal Pizazz stamp set is so versatile and decided to feature it for a double-month project.  The layout below was inspired by a card designed by one of my favorite stampers, Jan Tink. It is so amazing looking in person.  I have to say, it's in the top of my favorite layouts of the past 4 years.  Look how you can create a whole different feeling just by changing colors.  The top page is soft and quiet, while the bottom layout is vibrant and exciting.   

January Page of the Month - Roof Garden Accents & Elements

I know, I know...the Roof Garden Accents & Elements are retired, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't use what we purchased...right?  Actually, I choose what I'm going to feature for the Page of the Month the previous month.  So, that means I chose and ordered the Roof Garden products for Page of the Month in December.  I wanted to show how quick and easy creating a scrapbook page or cards can be when you use Stampin' Up!'s Accents & Elements with the hope that the new catalog would have even more to choose from.  Okay, so it didn't, but we still got to create a fun scrapbook layout!  The Stampin' Up!
