Holiday Happenings 2016

Believe it or not, it’s time to start planning for our Holiday Happenings Event (aka Christmas in July)!  You’ve noticed that I’m changing the name because it’s been three years since we’ve actually gotten together in July to stamp our cards (she says sheepishly) 

I spent last weekend at a wonderful scrapbook retreat in Big Bear Lake and it got me to thinking about making our Holiday Happenings Event an actual “getaway” rather than hosting it at the studio.  The Bed & Breakfast we stayed at was great; so comfortable, plenty of room to stamp, lots of light, home-cooked delicious meals, and more.  I think we would all have a blast together for the weekend…a mini creative vacation!  My concern would be the weather (possible light snow) and the altitude for some of you.

The weekend dates available are September 2-4, September 16-18, and October 14-16 (subject to change)

I want and need to get your HONEST feedback on what the majority of you would prefer and be willing to commit to before I proceed any further. 

Here are the options that I am considering:

1. A two-night stay at a bed & breakfast in Big Bear at a cost of around $300 (based on double occupancy).  Includes a cozy room, several to-die for meals, plenty of stamping room, snacks and drinks, plus gifts and prizes throughout the weekend.
2. Open House at the Studio at a cost of approximately $30 per day.  Includes plenty of stamping room, snacks and drinks, plus gifts and prizes throughout the day.  (There is a hotel approximately 4 miles away if you don't want to drive back and forth each day.)  Space is limited.

1st Annual Cookie Exchange Party

I love hosting parties and on Saturday ten of my besties came over for a cookie exchange party; what I hope to be an annual tradition!  It was so much fun!  Just a little friendship break in this crazy time of the year.  There was a lot of laughter, yummy treats, and new friendships made.  We had prizes for the tastiest (Go Maggie!), prettiest (Your hedgehogs were adorable Melodie!), best display of cookies (Deborah had this one in the bag, or should I say box?), and a Christmas sock challenge (Kdy won with the most clever socks quoting, "You're not obsessive, You're compulsively awesome).  I loved every minute of the day and can't wait to do it again!  Thanks ladies for making my life so much happier each time we're together.

Letters to Santa Stamp-a-Stack

Here's another project offered at the Christmas in July event.  It features the Merry & Type stamp set, Letters to Santa DSP and Quick Accents: 

One card design wouldn't fit on the collage and the last card shown with the Santa is actually twice as long as shown, but I'm sure you get the idea.  Take a look at the second card shown. I like how you can color the ornament design or leave it alone.  It looks great either way.

Jolly Holiday Scrapbook/Gift Card Holder

Here's a fun present. The idea is to fill up the pages with pictures and gift cards.  It's a great scrapbook present without the gift cards too.  I've written a poem about time with friends that goes along with it that kind of says it all.  Not sure if you can tell how cool this is by the pictures, but I'll try to do it justice.  Thank you to Jan Farring for sharing the instructions!

Taylor Made Christmas

I promised the ladies that I would have a Christmas Stamp-a-Stack at the Christmas in July event.  Come Wednesday I was getting nervous because my Stampin' Up! order hadn't arrived yet.  Not knowing what to do, I raided my paper closet to see what I could come up with.  I found a few retired Taylor Made Simply Scrappin' kits and thought, okay...this should be interesting. What could I do with a masculine kit like this for the holidays? Imagine my surprise when on closer inspection I realized that the postal images on the decorative adhesive diecuts referenced December 25th?  Wow, I hit the jackpot!  Combining this kit with the fun Season of Joy stamp set worked perfectly.  What do you think?

Halloween Photo Display 2009

A few months ago my wonderful, sweet, funny, terrific friend Erin made me the cutest little photo display project using the Just 4 You Simply Scrappin’ kit.  When I was trying to come up with a fun project to trade in a 3-D Convention swap Erin’s book was perfect!  I couldn’t use the same kit Erin used because it’s retired, so I pulled out my new Cast-a-Spell Designer paper and my favorite Halloween set, Batty for You.  You’ll notice that I also used Tasty Sweet, Autumn Harvest, The More the Merrier, Holiday Best, and All Holidays.  You wouldn’t have to use all of these sets to recreate this project, but I have them, so what the heck!  I had so much fun making these that I ended up making 8 of them to pass out to some of my favorite Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators during Convention!

I’ve put together a kit with everything you need to create this darling project for only $25.00. The kit includes pre-cut cardstock and designer paper, embellishments, an On Board Book Basics chipboard sheet, and full-color photo instructions. You will need to add the stamp sets to your order if you don't already have them.  I'll be happy to place an order for you.  Just let me know what you would like added to your kit and I'll send you an invoice with the adjusted total.
