Graduation Easel Hat Card

This hat is so much fun to make for your favorite Grad!  It's a great card, but even better gift card or cash holder. 

To make this card you will need:

Solid Color Cardstock (for my sample it's Night of Navy):

• 5-1/2” x 11
• 3-7/8” x 3-7/8”
• 2-1/2” x 5-1/4”
• 1-3/4” x 4-3/4”
• 3-5/8” x 3-5/8”
• ¾” Circle

White:

• 2-1/4” x 5”
• 1-1/2” x 4-1/2”
• 5-1/4” x 5-1/4” (mark at 2-5/8”)

Solid Color ink

Sentiment Stamp Set (sample features the Stampin' Up! Seriously the Best stamp set

Rhinestones, Sequins, or punched pieces (optional)

Snail Adhesive and Multi-purpose Liquid Glue

 

Cutting and scoring guide:

1. Fold a piece of 5-1/2" x 11" cardstock in half, burnish to get a crisp fold line.
2. With a pencil, lightly mark each side at 2-3/4".
3. Score one end of the card at 2-3/4" (red line).
4. Score the center of the card with an "X" shape from the 2-3/4" marks to the 2-3/4" scoreline, making sure that the middle of the "X" is in the exact middle of the card. 
5. Cut the corners off the bottom of the card from the 2-3/4" scoreline to the 2-3/4" mark on the bottom of the card (blue lines).
6. Fold scorelines shown in red on the diagram in a valley fold away from you.
7. Fold the scoreline shown in green on the diagram in a mountain fold towards you.  You should now have a five-sided shape with a square on top.
8. Glue one half of the 3-7/8" square to the triangular piece (within the blue lines) matching the corners.  
9. Glue the 3-5/8" square piece to the center of the 3-7/8" square with Stampin' Dimensionals. 
10. Glue a 2-1/4" x 5" piece of white cardstock to a 2-1/2" x 5-1/4" piece of solid color cardstock.  Then glue the strip to the bottom inside of the card base. If you want your card to be a card or cash holder, put a strong adhesive around the four sides of the cardstock strip, leaving approximately 3"-3-1/2" without adhesive in the middle at the top. You are creating a pocket.
11. Stamp a 1-1/2" x 4-1/2" piece of white cardstock with large sentiment and glue to the center of a 1-3/4" x 4-3/4" piece of solid color cardstock. Mount this strip to the center bottom inside of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.  You want this piece popped up.
12. If desired, decorate around the sentiment with stars, hearts, confetti, sequins, or rhinestones.  
13. Make a tassel using cording by wrapping the cord around three fingers a minimum of 12 times. Holding the loops together, pull the cording away from your fingers and add glue about 1/2" from the top.  Wrap the cording around the top a few times the opposite way and create a 2" loop at the top; trim. Cut the bottom loops to create the tassel fringe. Put a drop of glue in the center of the 3-5/8" square of your hat. Glue down the 2" loop in the center of the mortarboard and the tassel at the wrap line to the edge of the card.
14. Mark a 5-1/4" x 5-1/4" piece of white cardstock at 2-5/8" on three sides.  Cut at an angle from the left and right marks to the bottom center mark.  Glue this piece to the back of the card for your personal note and signature.

You will need:

Coastal Cabana cardstock:

• 5-1/2" x 8-1/2"
• (2) 7/8" x 2-7/8" rectangle (Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies)
• (2) 2-1/8" square (Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies)
• 1-1/2" x 2-3/4" hexagon (Stitched Nested Labels Dies)

Basic Black cardstock:

• 1-5/8" x 3-5/8" rectangle (Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies)
• 2-1/2" and 3" ovals (Layering Ovals Framelits Dies)
• (2) 1/4" punched circles

Blushing Bride cardstock:

• 3" x 5-1/2"

Smoky Slate cardstock:

• (2) - 1/2" punched circles Smoky Slate circles

Real Red punched heart (Heart to Heart Punch - retired)

Stampin' Dimensionals

1. Fold large Coastal Cabana card in half to create your card base.
2. Cut one end of the two 2-7/8" rectangles at a diagonal and attach to the top of the card, forming a V-neck collar; trim. Attach the Blushing Bride cardstock piece to the inside front flap of the card covering the V-neck opening.
3. Cut the large oval in half and glue the pieces to each side of the V-neck.
4. Cut the smaller oval at two thirds and attach to the bottom of the left of the oval strip. Add the small Smoky Slate and black circles to the ends.
5. Print your Share Sunshine PDF sentiment of choice on a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock; trim to 1-1/4" x 3-1/4". Mount to the 3-5/8" black cardstock piece.
6. Trim the hexagon piece to form a pocket shape. Glue over the right end of the stethoscope using Stampin' Dimensionals. Add red heart to the center of the pocket.
7. Add 2-'1/8" squares at a diagonal on either side of the card to form sleeves. (These will need to be folded forward if you want to put them in a regular A2 envelope).

Make a bunch and take them to your local emergency room!

Designer Series Paper Shirts

As soon as I saw Stampin' Up!'s Tropical Oasis Designer Series paper I knew I wanted to make some shirt cards.  I was so excited when another demonstrator by the name of Melissa Luedtke did all the work for me by creating these awesome designs and sharing her instructions.  I made a few tweaks to the instructions that made more sense to my brain and began creating...and creating...and creating.  I couldn't stop!  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these shirts and in two days made 48 of them!!!

Here are the written instructions.  Currently you can watch the online class showing how to make these on my https://www.facebook.com/Stampwithjeanne page.  If I can get this to video to download, I'll add the video here.

You will need:

• 1 sheet of 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
• 3 buttons
• A cutter or scissors
• Adhesives (Mini Glue Dots, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, Snail)

Instructions (one sheet of 12” x 12” DSP makes two cards):

1. Cut a piece of 12” x 12” Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper at 8”, paying close attention to the direction of the paper. The top of the pattern should be at the top of the cutter (imagine vertical stripes).
2. Turn the 8” paper and trim to create two pieces that are 5-7/8” x 8”.
3. Score each piece along the 8” edge at 2” and 6”. Be careful not to press too hard or the paper will rip.
4. With the 5-7/8” side of the paper at the top of the trimmer, score at 5/8”. Once again, pay attention to the direction of your paper. The pattern is now horizontal.
5. Move the paper over on the trimmer to 1-1/4” (5/8” below the score line) and cut a slice from the top to the 3” mark and the bottom to the 5” mark.
6. Looking at the side you want on the outside, fold at the 5/8” score line to the back and burnish with a bone folder. Do not press too hard or the paper will crack and you will see white.  If that happens, you can color the edges with a coordinating LIGHT Stampin’ Blend.
7. Fold the 2” sides to meet in the middle (don’t worry if the ends do not touch, this area will be covered later); burnish.
8. Trim the collar strip ends to the edges of the card. You are cutting 2” from each side along the score lines.
9. Gently work the collar pieces to the front, getting the top corners to touch in a point that is close to the center of the shirt. When you like where the ends are, burnish your collar folds.
10. Draw LIGHT pencil lines along the top of the folded collar edges to use as a guide for placing your Stampin’ Dimensionals. Place the dimensionals between the pencil lines and the top shirt edge.
11. Fold the collar ends back over the top to adhere.
    
    
12. Cut two ½” x 4" strips off the 4" x 12" paper piece, rotate the paper and cut at 2-1/8” to create a piece that is 2-1/8” x 11” and one that is 1-7/8” x 11”. Use the 1-7/8” piece to cut four 1-5/8” squares using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and two 1-3/4” hexagon rectangles using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies. Use the picture below as a guide for aligning your dies (you may need to align your dies a little closer than the picture shows). The side of the DSP that you want to show on the card should be facing up on your cutting surface.
13. Now for the tricky part. Creating the shirt plackets (the strip behind the buttons) requires three passes through the die-cutting machine. Cut the 2-1/8” strip of DSP at 5-1/8”. Using the 5-1/8” piece, place the DSP on the cutter surface right side up. Center the largest Stitched Rectangle Framelits die along one edge. This will create stitching lines on three sides of the paper. Trim the paper to 4-11/16” and align the corner of the die to the corner of the DSP that does not have stitching lines yet. This will create a stitching line around all four sides of the DSP.  Now align the die down the center of the rectangle to create two pieces.  Be careful to place the DSP within the center of the die opening so the end is not accidently cut off. 
    
    
14. Glue the placket to the center of the shirt using adhesive along the edge of the right front flap only.
    
15. Use two of the Stitched Squares that were cut in Step 11 to form the shirt sleeves. The squares are attached to the back of the card at an angle.
16. Fold one end of the long hexagon down to form a pocket shape. Add to the front of the shirt on the left side.
17. Add buttons down the shirt placket.
18. Strengthen the shirt by gluing a 3-5/8” x 4-1/4” piece of thick white cardstock to the inside of the card. Add the ½” strip cut in Step 11 to the bottom of the white card.
19. Stamp the back of your cards with “Stamped by” image; sign.
20. Don’t forget to decorate your envelope too! Use the Timeless Tropical stamp set to add image of choice on the front and the remaining piece of DSP to the envelope flap (you will only have enough DSP for one envelope).  The sleeves will need to be folded forward for the shirt to fit in an A2 envelope.

I hope you enjoyed creating these shirts.  They would be great out of any of our beautiful Designer Series Papers.  Look at the ones I designed with the Country Club DSP.

Directions:

1. Stamp one each of the 2-1/4" watercolor squares with the chick, lamb, bunny, and Happy Easter with flowers images in Stazon Black ink.  Color using your favorite coloring techniques.  I watercolored with Aqua Painters and ink refills, but watercolor pencils, Stampin' Blends, and Stampin' Write markers would work well too. If you're not watercoloring switch the small white image squares to either Whisper White or Shimmery White cardstock.  Stampin' Blends would require a Memento Black inkpad (132708). When dry, glue the chick, lamb, and bunny to 2-1/2” Coastal Cabana squares. 
2. Score a piece of 2-1/2” x 10” Coastal Cabana cardstock along the 10” edge at 2-1/2”, 3-1/4”, 4”, and 4-3/4”. Fold in half at the 4-3/4" score line.  Then fold at the remaining score lines towards the inside (mountain fold).  Burnish all of the scorelines to get a crisp fold. 
3. Glue the ends only of a 3-/4" x 4-1/4" white cardstock strip to a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP), approximately 5/8” from the bottom using Tear & Tape or another strong adhesive. Do not put glue in the center as your Cabana cardstock strip has to go behind this piece.  Trim the white strip end off using the DSP as a guide.
4. Glue the DSP to the 4” x 5-1/4” white cardstock piece and then glue the white cardstock piece to a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock. 
5. Fold the 10” Coastal Cabana cardstock piece that you created in Step 2 at the center 4-3/4" score line.  Slide the back of the 10” strip (section without the score lines) between the DSP and 3/4” white strip aligning the top fold line to the top edge of the white piece bordering the DSP (be sure to center the strip on the card front).  Holding the top steady, lift the front flap and add 2-1/2” of adhesive to the center of the white cardstock strip.  Close the front flap of the Coastal Cabana strip flat.  This will glue the Coastal Cabana strip to the white strip.  You should now be able to pull the back flap of the Cabana strip down creating your flipping  mechanism.  
6. Glue the Happy Easter square to the center of the Cabana strip front flap below the first score line.  Then glue the rabbit square to the strip just below the second score line, the lamb square to the third score line, and the chick along the top score line with Tear & Tape adhesive. 
7. Punch a hole in the bottom of the Cabana strip, add ribbon.

Cutting measurements:

• Coastal Cabana cardstock : 4-1/4" x 5-1/2", 2-1/2" x 10", 2-1/2" squares (3), 1/4" circles (6)
• Whisper White Thick cardstock:  4" x 5-1/4" and 3/4" x 4-1/4"
• Fluid Watercolor Paper: 2-1/4" squares (4)
• Designer Series Paper: 3-3/4" x 5"
• Ribbon:  6"

Under My Umbrella

I was lucky to win the pretty Under My Umbrella stamp set at our Stampin' Up! OnStage event in Portland (free gifts from Stampin' Up!...another great perk of being a demonstrator!).  I'm not sure it would have been on my "must have" list at first, but as soon as I created this card I fell in love with it.  Teamed up with the FREE Sale-a-Bration The Gang's All Here stamp, you can't help but smile.  I recently attended Sandy Hancock's downline meeting (thank you Sandy for the invitation) and this card won a prize!  How exciting!

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Create a white rectangle frame using the 2-1/4" x 3-1/2" and 3" x 4-3/8" Stitched Rectangle die-cuts.
2. Center the frame on a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of white cardstock and lightly trace the inside opening with a pencil to use as a guide for your stamping.
3. Stamp the open umbrella on a piece of Peaceful Poppies DSP in Memento Black ink.  Punch out the image with the Umbrella Punch.
4. Stamp the Meerkat image in the bottom left corner using Memento Black ink.
5. Add flower images around the Meerkat making sure the images stay within the umbrella shape. You may need to mask off the border edges to keep the images within the frame area.
6. Stamp one floral image on a separate piece of white cardstock and trim.
7. Stamp the umbrella handle in Memento Black ink.
8. Stamp a sentiment of choice in the top right corner within the pencil lines in Memento Black ink.
9. Stamp raindrops randomly within the pencil lines in Pool Party ink.
10. Color the images with Stampin' Blends.
11. Finish card as shown.  Note that the frame is adhered with Foam Adhesive strips (or you can use Stampin' Dimensionals that have been cut in half.   

Hint:  The Stamparatus isn't required, but boy, oh boy does it make it super easy to mass produce this card.  Perfect placement and images every time!

Here's another one of my favorite cards featuring the Painted Poppies stamp set from the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog.  This one's a gift card holder I designed.  There's probably an easier way to do this, but here's what I did:

DIRECTIONS:

1. Randomly stamp white cardstock piece (F) with detail line-art poppy stamps in Memento Black ink filling up the card, but leaving enough room to add leaf images between the flowers.  Add the leaf images.  Allow ink to dry completely.
2. Using the Stampin' Blends listed above, color the images starting with the darker shades and blending to the edges with the coordinating lighter Blends.
3. Add shading lines to the bottom edges of the flowers and leaves with the Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blend.
4. Score black cardstock piece (B) at 4-7/16" and 7-3/16".  The first score line is a valley fold.  The second score line is a mountain fold.
5. Score poppy cardstock piece (A) at 5-1/2" and 8-1/4".  The first score line is a valley fold.  The second score line is a mountain fold.
6. Stamp white cardstock piece (D) with sentiment of choice in the bottom right corner using Memento Black ink.
7. Stamp the white cardstock piece (E) with sentiment of choice in the center using Memento Black ink (optional)
8. Using an X-acto knife, make a slice in the black cardstock piece (B) approximately 1-3/8" above the 4-7/16" score line, leaving 1/8" uncut on each side.
9. Glue black cardstock piece (C) to the back (side that does not face the sentiment card area) of piece (B) slightly above the 4-7/16" scoreline using a very thin line of Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Fine Tip Glue Pen on the two side edges and along the bottom only.  This will create a pocket to hold the gift card.
10. Glue white cardstock piece (E) to the front side of black cardstock piece (B) centered between the 4-7/16" scoreline and the gift card opening slice. 
11. Glue the flower stamped cardstock piece (F) to the black cardstock piece (B) centered in the area above the 7-3/16" scoreline. 
12. Glue the bottom half of black cardstock piece (B) to the inside of Poppy cardstock piece (A) on the 5-1/2" side along the bottom leaving a border of approximately 1/8".  Close the cards and glue the top of the black cardstock piece (B) to the top 2-3/4" front flap of the Poppy cardstock piece (A).  You will now have a "Z" fold.  
13. Wrap a 14" piece of ribbon around the bottom of the front, top flap (between the Poppy and black opening behind the gift card area) and tie a knot.
14. Add white highlight dots to the center of the flowers with chalk marker.  
15. Add a gift card into the slot and you're good to go!  Let me know if you need my address, lol.

Directions:

1. Lightly rub the front of the watercolor paper with the Embossing Buddy.  Stamp the cake image in Whisper White in the center, towards the bottom a little.  Immediately add white embossing powder, brush off any stray powder with a paint brush and heat set.
2. Repeat Step 1 using the black cardstock strip and the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Happy Birthday to You stamp set.  Trim the right edge of the strip to create a banner shape.
3. Color the flower images as desired using Aqua Painters and Crushed Curry, Poppy Parade, and Pumpkin Pie ink refills (or you can squeeze a little ink onto the inside lids of the coordinating stamp pads too).  I start by diluting the ink a lot and then coloring the entire flower.  Then I add less diluted, darker ink where I want the shading to be.
4. Color the leaf images with Mossy Meadow ink, once again diluting the ink as needed.
5. Color the cake with well diluted Crumb Cake ink starting from the inside edges and brushing towards the center so you have a darker shade on the edges and almost no ink in the center.
6. Color the berries by lightly tapping with the point end of the Stampin' Blend.
7. Color the middle of the flowers with Basic Black Marker.
8. Color the plate stand with Gray Granite, once again brushing from the outer edge to the center.
9. Allow the watercolor paper to dry completely.  If you're in a hurry, heat set the paper, but be careful not to burn it.
10. Lightly add shading across the bottom of the watercolor paper with Sahara Sand.  Allow to dry.  
11. Mount watercolor card to the Calypso Coral cardstock piece.
12. Trim the right edge of the Crushed Curry cardstock strip to create a banner shape.
13. Mount the black banner strip to the top edge of the Crushed Curry strip with Stampin' Dimensionals, leaving an approximate 1/4" border at the bottom.
14. Punch a Classic Label punch piece out of Basic Black cardstock and cut in half at the center.
15. Fold the large Basic Black cardstock piece in half.  Add Whisper White cardstock piece to the inside of the card and decorate if desired.
16. Finish the front of the card as shown, using Fine Tip Glue to adhere sequins.

Peaceful Poppies Water Splash Card

As I mentioned before, I absolutely love the Peaceful Poppie Suite of products from the new Stampin' Up! Winter Mini Catalog.  I just can't stop playing with it.  Here's one of my favorite cards that I created for recent swap I did with other demonstrators throughout the country.  I hope liked it as much as I do!  Heck, I hope YOU like even more! 

Here's how to create this card:

1. Fold a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Shimmer White cardstock in half.
2. Use an Aqua Painter and Pool Party ink (I used ink refills) to create watercolor swish marks on the top half of the card in the center.  Repeat with a second Aqua Painter and Granny Apple Green ink on the bottom half.  Tip:  LIGHTLY add water to the back side of the piece and your card will dry flat.
3. Align a 2-5/8" x 4" Shimmer White cardstock rectangle in the center of the larger card and with a pencil, make a small dots on the left and right to mark where the Pool Party and Granny Apple Green colors meet. Move the top card layer back over to your work surface and repeat Step 2, only rather than swish marks, the entire card is painted. 
4. Repeat Step 3 using a 1-13/16" x 3-3/16" piece of Shimmer White cardstock.  Please note I used the #3 and #5 Rectangle Stitched Framelit Dies to create my card layers. 
5. Flick water drops onto all three cards with your fingers.  You want both small and large drops.  Let stand for a couple of minutes and then blot with a paper towel to remove excess water before it starts running.  Allow the cards to dry COMPLETELY.
6. Using the Painted Poppies stem flower, stamp the image in the center of the smallest card using Staz-on Black ink.  Allow to dry.
7. Color the stems with a Basic Black Stampin' Write marker (don't try to be perfect, there are some small open areas).  Hand-draw some grass and add tri-dots around the flower.
8. Color the flowers with Daffodil Delight and Poppy Parade Stampin' Write Markers.
9. Stamp the very bottom of the folded card with a sentiment of choice in Staz-on Black ink.  This sentiment is from the wonderful Peaceful Moments stamp set.
10. Finish your card by mounting layer on top the other with Stampin' Dimensionals.
11. Add some rhinestones and wah-lah!  You have a beautiful card.

A fun punched Easter Card
