Whoa! It's been a REALLY long time since I have posted to my blog. So sorry! With covering for a couple of people in our department who were out on maternity leave, Doug's wedding, and moving (twice!), time got away from me. Unfortunately, I had to put Stampin' Up! on the back-burner for a while. I miss it and you so much! I'm back now and raring to move this train ahead full steam! I hope you'll hop aboard with me.
Today I designed the cards for next weekend's Stamp Camp. We're getting together in Chino Hills on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6, in Huntington Beach. If you want to join us, click here for more information. Next month I'll add another Camp to the schedule when I finally open my doors in Ladera Ranch.
As many of you know, Dennis and I decided it was time to downsize and we went from a pretty large home to one half its size. Perfect for us now, but way too small for all the stampin' and crafting supplies I've collected over the years. Not to mention the Critter Craft hoard too! I promised Dennis that I would make an honest effort at using the supplies in stock so we could eventually move all the Christmas stuff that we had to put in storage back to the house. I don't know about you, but I think putting stuff in storage is a huge waste of the money I could be having fun with. By the time we pay to have the Christmas stuff in storage for a year, we could buy all new stuff! I'm too sentimental for that, but you get what I mean. Anyway, in my first attempt at using "stock", this month's Stamp Camp is a revival of old Camp kits that I've had in the cupboard FOREVER! I don't even know what year these were from. It was a fun challenge to look at the cut cardstock, ignore the old design, and make something new. Disclaimer: Don't shoot me, but another part of our "deal" was that I'd use all the stamps I've collected over the years too. Therefore, you will see that my card designs include some stamp sets that are retired...gasp! I have made some recommendations for current stamps you could use to re-create the cards if you are so inclined. I thought you would also enjoy seeing the original card along with the new. Remember, unless otherwise noted, these are using the exact same card pieces. Isn't it amazing how different you can make the same cards look?

I have to show you a close up of this one too so you can see the sparkle!
Products used: Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, and Only Orange Cardstock; Summer Sun, Only Orange, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, and Versamark inks; Well Scripted, Itty Bitty Backgrounds, and Garden Whimsy stamp sets; Iridescent Ice embossing powder, Black marker, White gel pen, Polka Dot embossing folder, pearls, and Tempting Turquoise grosgrain ribbon.
For the retired stamp replacement I recommend changing the butterfly to a flower like the Five-Way Flower or Mixed Bunch.
Wondering what I did with the tag and small squares? I used them on the inside of the card. The tag helps keep the ribbon in place too.
Old version:
I have no idea what this card originally looked like. I only found a bag full of pieces!
I added one small piece of Whisper White cardstock and made this:
Products used: Naturals Ivory, Whisper White, and Chocolate Chip cardstock; Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, and Black Staz-on inks; Wonderful Wings, Garden Silhouettes, Itty Bitty dots, French Script and Birthday Greetings stamp sets; Scallop border punch, Chocolate Chip marker, and Sponges.
For the retired stamp replacement I recommend that you increase the size of the card to a 5.5" x 5.5" and use the Swallowtail butterfly stamp.
Wow! You're still here? Good for you. That was a long post. I hope you found something that inspired you to stamp today. Remember, if you're in the area and would like to join us for Stamp Camp, we'd love to have you.
Take care and Happy Stampin'!
