Whew...What a weekend!
The doorbell rang right at 9:00 a.m. Maria crossed the threshold anxious to get started on the projects she selected for the weekend. Vicki was close behind and we were off and running for our annual Christmas in July event. The stampin' garage was full of ladies creating a variety of great holiday projects. Deborah and Dixie put together 6" x 6" scrapbook albums, while Erin, Beth, Vicki, Karen, and Kdy stamped their Christmas cards (at least 50 each!). Cindy, Kathy, Lisa, Marlise, and Agnes worked on the Stamp Camp cards while Mary stamped 12' x 12" scrapbook albums and Ida, ohhh...poor Ida (more later) finished the 28 cards the Stamp-a-Stack kit! Actually several of the ladies stamped mulitple projects throughout the 48 hour event.
Oh yeah...I forgot to mention garlands...lots and lots of garlands!!! Milk cartons too...oh my!
I wish I would have taken pictures of the food. We ate a LOT. My wonderful husband Dennis was the main cook and he did a fantastic job. Lunch of ham and turkey mini sandwiches (huge hit!), chips, fresh fruit, and yummy cupcakes started the never-ending feast. Dinner was a BBQ with hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, green salad, fresh fruit, and more desserts. About 10:30 p.m. we refueled with a hot fudge sundae bar and cookies.
About 2:00 a.m. we jumped into our jammies and headed off to dream of more stampin' projects. Good thing I have lots of couches and some nice guest rooms because the ladies were able to enjoy a good night's rest before getting up to stamp some more.
Sunday morning we woke to the wonderful scent of bacon and pancakes. Dennis got up early to serve breakfast to the ladies that stayed for the pajama party. In addition to the bacon and pancakes the menu included eggs, hashbrowns, muffins, and fresh fruit. It was so good! For lunch on Sunday we wanted to make sure the ladies could get out the door, so we ended with a full salad bar and topped the healthy junk off with chocolate. Seems fitting to me!
We had a couple of camera shy stampers. You can see the side of Cindy's head in the bottom left picture. (Cindy, you can thank me for not posting the other picture of you later. Someone would have thought you had already started on the Margaritas). Unfortunately, Mary smiled beautifully for the camera, but the batteries ran out...sorry Mary! Miss Erin should be here too, but she decided to flash her wares and I didn't want to make anyone jealous, so you'll have to find her in the pictures above. Look for the black and white plaid.
I mentioned Ida earlier. Well, here she is...
Poor Ida fell down the stairs a week before the event and shattered her arm. She ended up in surgery and had 10 screws put in. Ouch! But this girl's a trooper! She was not going to let a little thing like a shattered arm stop her. She grabbed her cheese foam, her driver (thanks husband John), and came to the event with a great attitude. With only help tying bows, Ida completed all 28 Stamp-A-Stack cards on her own. Way to go girlfriend! Only goes to show, you can't keep a good stamper down!
I think everyone really enjoyed the weekend. There was lots of laughter, plenty of productivity, food, food, and more food, fantastic projects, prizes, and my son washing his car, but I'm his mom so I'm not saying any more about that! Oh yeah...did I mention there was food?!?!?!?!?
Now to start planning the next big event...my first annual Hostess Reunion...woo-hoo!
I'll try to get pictures of some of the other projects posted soon. I'm getting ready for Convention...so little time...so much stampin' to do!
