You're probably wondering where I've been. The answer is...designing! I've been working hard creating project after project. I don’t know about you, but next to Christmas I love decorating for Halloween the most! I’m not into the scary symbols…ghouls, monsters and gross things popping out of eyeballs, but give me a cute ghost with rosy cheeks, darling witches with sweet eyes or cute smiling spiders and I’m lost. Year after year when my boys were small I would spend days decorating the house. There were large plastic spider webs covering the ceilings with huge, bouncing spiders hanging down. A 7’ Frankenstein stood watch over the kitchen and pumpkin placemats adorned the tables. Every nook and cranny had a pumpkin, witch, or scarecrow. Guests to our front door where greeted by the witch from Snow White offering them a poison apple. We had pumpkin carving contests and I challenged myself to be creative with the boy’s costumes. One year David won the costume contest at the Mall dressed as a box of Hi-C, straw and all. He was only two and cried the whole time he was on stage, but he walked away with First Prize, an ugly blue plastic bunny. I still remember his quivering chin resting against the top of the box, tears slowly skimming down his cheeks and a sad little voice saying, “That’s it?” when I showed him what he won. LOL…poor little guy. Maybe its fond memories of treat or tricking, time spent with friends, the parties or probably the chocolate, but I do love Halloween. I guess that’s why I’m so excited about the special projects I’ve designed for my clients this month.
The designs from the Creepy Crawly Designer Series papers lend themselves towards a variety of creative Halloween projects. From boxes to lanterns, decorative cans, garlands, cards and a scrapbook to capture the memories of ghosts and goblins throughout the years, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of designing for this holiday. I want to thank Shelli Gardner for sharing her creativity with us at Convention. Her projects sparked my imagination and I couldn’t wait to duplicate her projects for my customers and design some of my own. I hope you enjoy seeing what I’ve done and that you can join me at Camp this month to create Halloween decorations for your own home. It's scary how cute they are!
Gotta love those paper lanterns! Those would be fun at any time of the year with all sorts of papers!
